Welcome to this week’s MODULR Minute!

The marketing newsletter that respects your time—quick insights, real resources, and tools we’re testing so you don’t have to.

Let’s dive in!

Roku Angers Customers

Roku TV owners recently reported an unskippable Moana 2 ad—before even reaching the home screen. Roku called it a “test,” but users weren’t buying it. Community forums lit up with complaints, and some even threatened to ditch Roku altogether.

💡 Takeaway: Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Pushing ads too hard—especially in unexpected places—can feel invasive fast. Respect your users’ journey or risk losing them altogether.

Do You Want To Play DnD?

We reimagined your marketing team as a Dungeons & Dragons party—complete with character classes, common skills, weaknesses, and painfully accurate quotes.

It’s our chaotic tribute to marketing life. You’ll see your team. You’ll probably see yourself.

Check out the deck here.

Let us know: Should we make more of these?

The Innovator’s Dilemma, for Marketers

Clayton Christensen’s classic explains why market leaders often fail: they get too focused on current customers and miss emerging trends. Sound familiar?

If your marketing is only serving today’s buyer, you might be ignoring tomorrow’s. Staying relevant means spotting and experimenting with small, disruptive signals—before they reshape your industry.

Tech We’re Testing: Lovable

It’s rare that a tool blows us away. Lovable did.

We found it via LinkedIn, gave it a shot, and…wow. In a few hours, we’d:

  • Built a mobile-responsive web app
  • Configured a Postgres database automagically
  • Connected third-party APIs
  • Auto-refactored code (multiple times)
  • Enabled sign-up flows + a freemium path
  • And *happily* paid to upgrade

The good:

  • You get the full codebase—host it or hand it to a dev
  • Clean, mobile-first UI (yes, you can build from your phone)
  • Seamless GitHub + Supabase connections
  • It fixes code bugs before you ask
  • Vibe coding = an unholy, real-time dopamine rush

The bad:

  • Free credits vanish fast
  • Not ideal for non-technical users—some dev knowledge helps
  • Documentation is…sparse

💡 Verdict: Lovable is a game-changer for fast MVPs or testing ideas. We even see it as a Figma alternative or for building internal tools—no engineers required.

Let us know what resonated (or didn’t). And if you’ve got a hairy automation, reporting, or CRM challenge—we’re always available for a free strategy session.
